The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Say hello to Summer.

Hello everybody, it’s time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge to pay its respects to the new season as we; Say hello to Summer.

And what better way to usher in the sunshine months, than a visit to the seaside?

I took a drive out to Combe Martin at the weekend and captured some beach scenes to match the scorching weather.

How did you welcome in the new season..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: North, South, East and West

Good morning everyone, welcome to another Monday’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today looks; North, South, East and West.

I found myself at Party In The Park at the weekend, a free community event in the village of Swimbridge, just outside Barnstaple. There was live music all day, a BBQ, a bar tent, plenty of stalls and fun for the kids, and a great time was had by all.

I took all my pictures there, with a bonus panorama, which nearly covers all four points of the compass.

Now let’s have a look at your multi-directional offerings…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: By the water.

Hello there, welcome to another edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, this time themed around the prompt; By the water.

As it happens, I went to a folk festival at a pub next to a canal at the weekend, meaning that technically all my photos are by the water; so I’ve included some which don’t immediately suggest a waterside connection.

Now let’s see what watery offerings you have for us today…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Fun in the sun.

Hello there, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I hope you’ve all had a lovely break and the weather where you are was suitable for some; Fun in the sun.

I had Melody and Daisy the dog staying over the weekend; we visited a food festival in Bideford on Saturday and went for a stroll through Venn Quarry Woods yesterday, where there was a bit of a canine theme…

Where did you find sunny fun this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: What’s flowering where you are?

Welcome to this Spring-like edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, celebrating a new season with the prompt; What’s flowering where you are?

I went for a walk on Saturday morning and captured some bursts of new colour in the fields and gardens around Rotherfield village.

What are the blooms looking like round your way at the moment..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Portals.

Hooray, it’s Monday! Not your usual response to the start of the week? Well maybe that’s because you haven’t had The Cosmic Photo Challenge to brighten your day.

Today we’re taking a look at those entries, exits and throughways which could be described as; Portals.

I was in town on Saturday, in the glorious sunshine, where I captured a baker’s dozen of doors, windows, gates and arcades, including a portal to a world of musical discoveries; the wonderful Discovery Records, run by local legend, Matt “the hat” Poulton.

What exciting entrances did you find for us at the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: At the shoreline.

Hello there, I hope you had a nice weekend and that Monday hasn’t come as too much of a shock, but if so, The Cosmic Photo Challenge is here to ease you into the week.

Today we’re on the water’s edge, for the prompt; At the shoreline.

I took a walk along Woolacoombe beach on Saturday afternoon, when we had our allotted ration of hazy sunshine for the weekend.

Where did you go to capture your water-adjacent pictures this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Old buildings.

Good morning, welcome to another week, bringing the ever reliable Monday highlight of The Cosmic Photo Challenge to brighten your day.

This week’s theme was simple and to the point, requiring you to provide pictures of; Old buildings.

I was in Sussex at the weekend and I took a walk around the village of Rotherfield, with its distinctive red brick and tile fronted houses. The church dates back to 1060 and there is a yew tree in the graveyard which is purported to be a thousand years older than that and is now supported by props and chains.

I also paid a visit to my all time favourite pub, my old local in Crowborough, The Wheatsheaf, first licensed as a public house in 1853 and still going strong.

So, over to you, what aging architectural offerings do you have for us..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Compass points.

Hi there, today on The Cosmic Photo Challenge we’re seeing things from all four; Compass points.

The concept is simple: four photos, each taken from (or towards) one of the cardinal points of the compass, North, South, East and West.

I was visiting friends in Sussex at the weekend, so I took a walk up onto Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie The Pooh, where I captured these four shots…

North
East
South
West

…and this bonus panorama, which nearly covers all four.

How did your all-round mission go this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Close up.

Hello there, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge on another chilly Monday morning, which today is focussed on; Close up.

I started off taking random pictures around the house, then got carried away with editing and made a composite image using some ceramic ornaments, my tablet and an old sunrise photo.

What did you get close to this week..?
