The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Morning has broken.

It’s the second bank holiday edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge this month and today we’re inspired by the prompt; Morning has broken.

I captured most of my pictures on the country lanes outside the village of Landkey when I took Rhonda to work on Saturday morning. The last shot is from our garden, featuring the clay mushroom cap I made during the week, to sit on the stem of a frost damaged cordyline plant.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: In motion.

Hi there, welcome to a bank holiday Monday edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, this week inspired by the prompt; In motion.

I was up at 3.30 on Saturday morning, for a long day of driving from Barnstaple to Heathrow airport and back. The sun rose as we were heading across Salisbury plain towards Stone Henge and by the time we arrived home again it was four in the afternoon.

I had my phone attached to the windscreen on a long-armed holder, meaning I barely needed to raise my hand from the wheel to take some genuinely moving pictures. (They were cropped and straightened later where necessary)

There are also a couple of timed long exposures using the same method, plus a convenient outtake from last week I didn’t realise I’d taken, walking by a pond on the golf course.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: It’s Spring!

This week on The Cosmic Photo Challenge we’re finally celebrating the arrival of a new season, because; It’s Spring!

I thought I was being hopelessly optimistic when I mentioned “sunshine photos” in Friday’s post, but yesterday was nice enough to sit out in the garden all day. I got out and about while the world was having a Sunday lie-in and captured that unique morning light.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: One winter’s morning.

For today on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I asked you to provide images to convey the prompt; One winter’s morning.

I was too late to capture the start of the day on Saturday, despite being up at 6 to take Rhonda to work, as I always avoid the morning rush at Tesco by doing the weekly shop on the way home. But the forecast for Sunday was dry and cold again, so I reckoned I could risk the wait.

Anyway, yesterday morning I watched the sky lighten and as soon as the first strands of orange clouds began to appear, I jumped in the car and drove out into the countryside around Landkey, just outside Barnstaple.

When I stopped the car the first time I saw this…

…and thought “Ohh, that’s quite impressive, I like that.”

Then, over the next ten minutes or so, this happened.

As they say; right place, right time.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: As summer fades.

I was fully expecting a weekend of dreary weather, as per the forecast, hence the theme on The Cosmic Photo Challenge this week being based on the prompt; As summer fades.

But nature confounded satellite technology once again, with very pleasant weather on both days, including this fabulous Exmoor sunrise, from early yesterday morning after taking Rhonda to work.

Maybe there’s hope for summer, yet.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: In the morning light.

The march of time brings another weekend to an end, but it also brings with it The Cosmic Photo Challenge, this week themed around the prompt; In the morning light.

The forecasters were spot on with the weather, predicting the scorching temperatures which baked the UK right the way through last week, so I was glad for the chance to grab my photos early, before retreating to find what shade I could in the garden.

I captured my images on the drive back from taking Rhonda to work on Saturday, stopping in the village of Swimbridge (birth place of the very first Jack Russell terrier) for a wander round the churchyard.
