The Cosmic Photo Challenge: The returning of the light.

Hello, it’s time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge once more, this week built around the theme of; The returning of the light.

As I said on Friday, I based the prompt on the fact that the days are getting longer, the evenings are getting brighter, etc etc…

And the weekend was a total washout.

Yes, the photo challenge weather jinx struck again, so I only managed to grab a couple of shots on a brief walk between downpours, when the light did finally make an appearance just before sunset.

I also concocted two more light painting experiments in the shed.

Did you find the light fantastic, or were you left in the dark like me? Show us your photos and brighten our Monday, it’s easy when you know how…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: From my window.

This week on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I asked you to use this prompt to inspire your images; From my window.

That’s your window, obviously, not mine, but I’m sure you worked that out already, since I didn’t see any strangers taking photos from inside our flat at the weekend.

Just for a change I took the obscure route, because I can and it’s more fun. I used long exposures and a flashlight to do a spot of “light painting”; illuminating multiple images of myself while outside the window, then painting the frames in the same way, inside the darkened room afterwards.

I also captured (through my car window) what is without doubt, THE most egregious use of misplaced apostrophes I’ve ever had the teeth-grinding misfortune to witness.

Three words.

All of them wrong.

All. Three.

*edit: see comment below regarding this photo, I’m not entirely certain of its veracity, but it made me laugh, nonetheless.

How did your peek into the outside world go, let’s have a look through your windows…

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Hello and a happy weekend to you all, it’s time I provided you with your prompt for this week’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

The weather is already truly horrendous here, so today I’m giving you the opportunity to stay indoors in the warm and capture images on the theme of; From my window.

I hope that gives you sufficient inspiration, I’ll see you back here on Monday for the official unveiling of your photographic creations.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Shades of grey.

Another gloomy Monday morning on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, leading on from an equally dull and overcast weekend, tying in nicely with prescient prompt; Shades of grey.

I took a very brisk and chilly walk along the river Taw yesterday, past buildings old and new.

How was your search for colourless inspiration? Show us what you found, we’d all love to see…

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Time for another tardy post on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, delayed this week by a lengthy session at my local phone store where I was driving a hard upgrade bargain for nearly two hours.

It looks like the spell of cold but sunny weather we’ve been having here is over for now, so any opportunities for getting outside to take photos will most likely be in; Shades of grey.

So that’s your prompt, enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Less is more.

Here we go again, it’s the start of another week, but don’t worry, The Cosmic Photo Challenge is at hand to cheer up your Monday.

Today’s theme is rather ephemeral; Less is more.

I decided that (to me, at least) the prompt meant less colour and no planning, so keeping an eye out for inspiration over the weekend, I captured; shadow patterns on the ceiling made by our woven string lampshade…

…and a hastily snapped shot of the moon on the way to pick Rhonda up from work last night.

Now let’s see how minimal you managed to go…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Woodland winter.

Another week dawns and another edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge rises from the ashes of the weekend to brighten your Monday.

Good morning everyone, I hope your day is going well so far and you’re ready to face the challenge of the prompt; Woodland winter.

I took a very pleasant, if slightly soggy walk, through the woods around the soon to be developed Venn Quarries just outside Barnstaple.

The river was pretty swollen by the recent heavy rain and I managed to capture a few long exposure shots of the swirly currents, giving the water an ethereal, misty effect, along with some super slo-mo clips of waterfalls, which you can see in the short video tour below.

ended up with too many shots to choose between, so I have posted the entire gallery on my other blog and you can see them all HERE}

Now it’s time to see images of your own winter woodland wonderlands, I can’t wait to see what you have for us.

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Honestly, I will remember to post your prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge on a Friday eventually, but apparently not this week. ;~}

Anyway, now I’m finally here, I’ll tell you that today I’m asking you to find some images which illustrate the theme; Woodland winter.

I’m sure many of you will be able to furnish us with suitably seasonal pictures of snowy scenes, although I suspect my own offerings will be of the wet variety, since the weekend weather doesn’t look too promising here.

But whatever you manage to capture, we’ll all be here to enjoy the results on Monday. Have a nice couple of days off and I’ll see you on the other side.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Starting afresh.

Welcome, one and all, to the very first reveal post of 2022 on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today is themed around the prompt; Starting afresh.

A pretty broad brush with which to create our photographic masterpieces and I chose to take my first stroll of the year round Rock Park yesterday, later than planned as it began to bucket down with rain just as I was leaving.

However, that downpour provided some perfect stretches of standing water, all the better for catching reflections. I also captured some fresh paint and some not so fresh…

How was your start to the new year, show us your inaugural images and let us all share in your creativity.

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Hello and a happy 2022 to you all, I hope your celebrations haven’t left you too fragile this morning and that you’re ready for a new round of The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

I’m going to make it an easy one for our first post-festivities prompt and give us plenty of room for creative manoeuvre with the theme; Starting afresh.

See you on Monday for the unveiling of the start of another year’s worth of fabulous photos. Enjoy the rest of your break, stay safe, get boosted, start as you mean to go on.

Peace.

X
