The Cosmic Photo Challenge: North, South East and West.

Good morning, I hope you all had a nice weekend, now it’s time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today is based on the prompt; North, South, East and West.

It’s a simple idea: four pictures, one taken in each direction. They don’t have to have been taken from the same spot, or at the same time, just as long as they’re facing towards one of the cardinal points of the compass.

I took mine on a couple of my morning walks in the countryside outside Barnstaple.

Now let’s see what direction you took with your images this week…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Perspective/Focal point.

It’s Monday and that means a new edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is themed around the prompt; Perspective/Focal point.

Very broadly, we’re talking about photos which lead the eye, inviting us to follow the flow of an image, or to focus on a central feature. That’s my definition, anyway, and I’m sticking to it.   ;~}

I took a pleasant but chilly walk around the grounds of the National Trust’s Arlington Court on Saturday, where the woodland trails and landscaped gardens provided plenty of eye-catching views.

I was very drawn to this other-worldly moss-covered tree
How could you not follow the sinuous curve of this woodland path?
The way the stream winds through the trees makes me want to see where it goes

Now let’s see your own perspectives on this week’s challenge…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: A river runs through it.

Good morning, I hope life finds you well on this lovely Spring day, which is now hopefully improved by the arrival of The Cosmic Photo Challenge and today’s theme; A river runs through it.

We’re talking rivers, streams, canals, any sort of waterway, but even lakes and ponds are welcome, along with their surroundings.

I took a walk around the communal woodland which runs through my neighborhood, where a stream (the delightfully named “Coney Gut”, a tributary of the River Taw) winds its way amongst the wild garlic and wood anemones.

Where did your search for watery images take you at the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: The first day(s) of Spring.

Hi there, good morning to you, wherever you may be, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This week, as the equinox was on Friday, we’re celebrating the official arrival of a new season with the prompt; The first day(s) of Spring.

Obviously I didn’t expect you all to rush out and take your photos on Friday, hence the parenthetical “s” in the title, and I took mine on a gloriously sunny walk on Saturday morning.

What Spring-like sights did you capture for us over the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: After the rain.

Hi, I hope you’re all rested and ready to take part in The Cosmic Photo Challenge this fine Monday morning, following the (slightly late) prompt; After the rain.

It was such an unexpected relief from the more or less continuous downpour we’ve been experiencing lately, that the sunny(ish) weather at the weekend was actually trending on UK social media. I took my pictures on a couple of my daily, rather muddy walks around the countryside, where the sound of running water could be heard almost everywhere, but the sunshine made all the difference.

I include this shot for the creatively stacked tyre Minion in the background

Now let’s see your post-precipitation pictures…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Morning light.

Good morning from The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is all about that special time of day when we can experience; Morning light.

I was lucky with the weather for my pre-breakfast walks at the weekend; the mornings broke clear, cold and bright, perfect for capturing views across the glistening countryside.

So, what did you see as the sun rose over your part of the world..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: A cold start.

Hello, welcome to 2026’s very first edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, brought to you by the totally topical prompt; A cold start.

We’ve certainly had no shortage of those in the last few days, so here are some frosty shots from one of my morning walks at the weekend.

Now let’s see your chilly images…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: A winter’s walk.

Hello and season’s greetings to you all from The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week gets out and about on; A winter’s walk.

Since I changed jobs last year, I haven’t been getting as much exercise, so I’ve recently started doing a daily two and a quarter mile hike around the country lanes on the very edge of Barnstaple. I’m fortunate enough that I have the countryside five minutes from my door, so a weekend walk was the perfect time to capture the chilly morning landscape.

Have a fantastic holiday, I’d like to wish you and all of your loved ones the very merriest of Christmases, I’ll see you for our end of year roundup next week.

Love, light and peace,
dalecooper57

Now let’s see if you found yourselves a winter wonderland…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Lights, camera, Christmas!

Good morning, welcome to the annual round up of festive illuminations on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, brought to you by the prompt; Lights, camera, Christmas!

I took a chilly, early evening stroll round Barnstaple town on Saturday to capture my yuletide sparkle-fest; with a couple of extra snaps I took whilst waiting to leave my road, hemmed in as I was by the local Round Table’s Santa sleigh.

Now let’s see what’s lighting up your world at the moment…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Autumn landscapes.

Good morning, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, following a very wet weekend here in the UK.

Fortunately, having set the prompt on Friday, I managed to get out that afternoon while the weather was still cold and bright, to capture some images of; Autumn landscapes.

I took a walk up onto the hills above Barnstaple to take my pictures, some of which might only have glimpses of the landscape in the background, but I like them nonetheless.

Where did your search for wide open spaces take you at the weekend..?
