The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Focusing on composition.

Good morning, I hope Monday finds you well and I wish a Happy 4th of July to our American contingent.

This week on The Cosmic Photo Challenge it’s all about how pictures are framed, as we are; Focusing on composition.

Where did your search for the ultimate framing take you, it’s time to share your results…

Another week over means another prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is all about; Focusing on composition.

This leaves you with a completely open field as far as subject matter is concerned, because what we’re interested in is how you frame your pictures.

Have fun finding the best photographic proportions, enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge; Indoor freestyle.

Hello there, welcome to a rather unusual edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, today themed around the extremely loose prompt; Indoor freestyle.

It was a strange week last week; having tested positive for Covid on Monday morning I was in isolation until yesterday evening, when I finally tested negative, although I am still feeling a bit below par. Which is all the explanation you’re getting for me having deviated slightly on my own challenge.

Since I was trapped in the flat all week, I did what I usually do to amuse myself and made some new musical creations, one of which you can experience right here, accompanied by my…photographic contribution.

The video you see below is made using only a two minute clip of me wandering around the living room and kitchen with my phone, filming anything and everything at peculiar angles, all of which then had layers and layers of effects applied to them and voila!

{Best watched in HD. Contains flashing images}

Normal service will be resumed next week, but in the meantime, let’s see what the more sensible of you produced over the weekend.

Cosmic Photo prompt.

A limited prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge today, as I’ve been laid up with Covid for the last week; Indoor freestyle.

Basically you can take photos of whatever you like this week, but to level the playing field, as I’ll still be isolating over the weekend, your images must be captured inside.

That’s it, see you on Monday.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Nature in black and white.

On Friday I set you the task of finding images for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge which would satisfy the prompt; Nature in black and white.

I chose half a dozen shots from the ones I took on an early Saturday morning drive, in the countryside just outside Barnstaple.

Now it’s time to reveal your monochromatic masterpieces to the world, come on, don’t be shy…

Cosmic Photo prompt.

For this week’s theme on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I’m continuing the thread of flora and fauna, but in monochrome, with; Nature in black and white.

That’s about as simple as it gets, so no explanation required, just get out there and capture the natural world in shades of grey and meet back here on Monday for the big reveal.

Have a great weekend, y’all.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Night and day.

This week’s entry for The Cosmic Photo Challenge took possibly the longest time it’s ever taken to produce a single image, based on the prompt; Night and day.

I had no idea what I was going to do when I set the theme on Saturday and by the time I’d worked out how to get the shot I wanted, I’d already missed one opportunity.

Yesterday I set up a tripod in the garden, so I could take a few photos from the same place throughout the day, hoping that when it came to last night I’d have the images I needed to complete the big picture you hopefully see below (at the time of writing, I have yet to take the final photo)

…Yay, I did it, this composite image is made up of five separate photos taken on the same spot across 12 hours.

Morning to night, left to right.

What did your nightly excursions reveal..?

Cosmic Photo prompt.

It’s time for a quick burst of inspiration, with your prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is based around the theme; Night and day.

No idea why I chose that, it just popped into my head as I was writing, so I’m interested to see what we all come up with.

See you on Monday, have a great weekend.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Close up on nature.

This week on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, we’re getting up close and personal with the natural world, following Friday’s prompt; Close up on nature.

I chose to capture some of the more flamboyant examples of local horticulture, along with a busy bumble bee and an impressively antlered but badly coordinated flying beetle which lumbered into the fennel in our garden.

How did your nature trail develop? Share the results with us and join in the fun…

Cosmic photo prompt.

It’s probably chancing the wrath of The Cosmic Photo Challenge weather jinx, but I’m going to cross my fingers and hope to get out and about again for this week’s prompt; Close up on nature.

We’ve had a few challenges involving the wide open spaces of the countryside recently, but I thought it would make a nice change to concentrate on some of the things which might get missed in the Big Picture.

So get up close and personal with the flora and fauna in your part of the weekend world and we’ll all return on Monday to display the fruits of our photographic scavenger hunt.

See you on the other side, enjoy.
