The Cosmic Photo Challenge: North, South, East and West

Good morning everyone, welcome to another Monday’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today looks; North, South, East and West.

I found myself at Party In The Park at the weekend, a free community event in the village of Swimbridge, just outside Barnstaple. There was live music all day, a BBQ, a bar tent, plenty of stalls and fun for the kids, and a great time was had by all.

I took all my pictures there, with a bonus panorama, which nearly covers all four points of the compass.

Friday already, hooray, meaning it’s time for your prompt on The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This week I think we’ll have another round of a previous theme; North, South, East and West.

So for Monday’s post, I’d like four separate photos, one taken facing in (roughly) each direction. They don’t all have to be taken from the same spot, or even at the same time, as long as they cover the four points of the compass.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Bridges.

Good morning, happy snappers, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today takes as its inspiration; Bridges.

I have to admit, I’m spoilt for choice with bridges around here and I’ve photographed many of them before; but yesterday I realised there was at least one I hadn’t captured yet.

On the main road into Barnstaple, a new junction has recently been built, complete with a “bridge to nowhere” as it’s locally known, which will eventually service an upcoming housing development.

The hugely convoluted (and not unimpressive) steel construction isn’t in use yet, but when I arrived there were no workmen about and there wasn’t actually a sign saying you couldn’t use it…

A bit further down the road, there’s an old concrete flyover which carries one of the many country lanes that crisscross the main A361. On this particular lane I discovered a gate which allowed me to capture it from an unusual angle.

I found you can get some interesting panoramic shots on a bridge, too.

Congratulations, you made it to the end of another week, so you may now claim your prize: A new prompt on The Cosmic Photo Challenge!

I think it’s about time we let our collective creative inspiration take centre stage once again, so for Monday’s post I’d like to see some more; Art for art’s sake.

For anyone who is new to the challenge, this is just an excuse to muck about with photography a little more than usual, to create something which may be more than the sum of its parts.

So you can use collages, long exposures, composite images, mosaics, editing effects, anything is fair game as long as the original photos are your own. Or you could just photograph some art made by someone else, the choice is yours.

I look forward to seeing what fabulous pictures you come up with, have a great weekend.

Good morning, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I hope your weekend went well and, if you’re in the UK, I hope you’re enjoying the extra day off.

This week we’re turning our camera eyes to the fields and meadows, where we’ve been searching for; Wild flowers.

I took a sunny stroll around the Millennium Green in Rotherfield, East Sussex, where it was difficult to find somewhere that wasn’t covered in drifts of colour.

Well what do you know, it’s yet another three day bank holiday weekend here in the UK and the weather is still very pleasant. That should make for a nice sunny edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge to start the week, when the subject will be; Wild flowers.

At this time of year there is a huge variety of flowering plants in the fields and hedgerows, so get out in the countryside and hunt down some blooms for Monday’s post.

As it happens, I went to a folk festival at a pub next to a canal at the weekend, meaning that technically all my photos are by the water; so I’ve included some which don’t immediately suggest a waterside connection.
