The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Bare trees.

Another weekend gone in a flash, but with The Cosmic Photo Challenge to restart your week, Mondays aren’t so bad.

This week we were out searching for Bare trees and I was spoilt for choice, on my misty but not unpleasant wander around Rock Park in Barnstaple, yesterday afternoon.

The dogwood stems really pop in the grey winter light

How did your mission go, seeking out au naturale arboreal models for your weekend’s homework?

Come on, show us, we’re very friendly and we’d love you to join in…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Water, water everywhere.

Here we are again, meeting The Cosmic Photo Challenge on a Monday morning, after spending the weekend capturing; Water, water everywhere.

It wasn’t too much of a challenge for me, as I completely failed to avoid the rain on my walk round the local country lanes yesterday.

How did your photographic treasure hunt go?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: What’s flowering where you are?

There goes another weekend and here comes yet another Monday, made all the more bearable by The Cosmic Photo Challenge and this week’s theme; What’s flowering where you are?

I admit I was nearly stumped by my own prompt, having been over-optimistic about the number of early blooms to be found. But I took a very blustery walk around the park yesterday and managed to find a few tenacious little flowers (ok, and fungi) braving the wintery conditions.

How is the hardy flora in your neck of the woods? Time for an international roundup of natural beauty…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: A new year dawns.

Good morning, I hope you had a nice weekend, now let’s turn our attention to The Cosmic Photo Challenge and this week’s theme; A new year dawns.

An intentionally broad prompt, so plenty of room for interpretation, although I took it fairly literally and went for my first trip in the country since last year.

It wasn’t actually dawn, but it gets light quite late at the moment and I managed to catch a lovely sunrise over the river on the way to do the weekly shop on Saturday. And later on I captured some of the bright and breezy landscape on the hills above Barnstaple.

By the way, for any of you who are recent participants in the challenge – Hello, thanks for taking part – the badge at the top of this post is the original version and if you’d like to display it (or any of its peculiar variants, for that matter) on your blog posts, please feel free to do so.

Anyway, here are my pictures.

This one is a composite image; two shots taken on the same spot a few minutes apart, in different light conditions

How did the start of your year shape up?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: A cold start.

Hello again, welcome to yet another Monday and the delightful prospect of another week at the grindstone, helpfully punctuated by The Cosmic Photo Challenge and this week’s theme; A cold start.

I’ve chosen a selection of images which, even if they don’t all give the immediate impression of “B-b-brrrrr!”, I assure you they were each captured at very low temperature, including the first one from Saturday morning.

Now let’s see your chilly choices for the challenge…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Autumn colours.

Hello everyone, I hope your weekend went well, now let’s turn our attention to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is brought to you by the prompt; Autumn colours.

I dodged the rain yesterday and went for a walk in the country, just down the road from home, where the trees are displaying the full range of autumnal shades.

So, what seasonal treats do you have in store for us today..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Over the hills and far away.

There’s a distant look in our eyes for this week’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, because the theme I set on Friday was; Over the hills and far away.

I managed to catch a gap in the rain on Saturday, to go walking up one side of the v-shaped, double river valley which makes up the wider Barnstaple landscape.

The weather was too grey and uninteresting to provide anything very inspiring, but here are some views of the misty Devon countryside around our home, including panoramas which feature three different sets of distant hills.

Were the elements kinder to you at the weekend? Show us what you captured for your homework, it’s your turn to shine…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: As summer fades.

Good morning all, hope you had a good weekend, now it’s time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge to start your day with a smile.

Yesterday I took a walk in the woods, to capture some pictures to go with this week’s prompt; As summer fades.

Where did your weekend travels take you..?

***BONUS CONTENT***

As is often the case when I go out taking pictures, yesterday I shot some video in the woods and used it to make a visual accompaniment to a new piece of music.

Here is Arborealis for you to enjoy.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: In the evening.

Welcome to the week, everyone, time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge again, today inspired by the prompt; In the evening.

I took a stroll along the River Taw on Saturday, about an hour before sunset, capturing the softening evening light and some nice reflections, I even managed to turn the sun into a street lamp.

Now let’s see the photographic fruits of your weekend creative endeavours…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Low elevation.

Ah, the start of a new week, that can only mean one thing… The Cosmic Photo Challenge!

This week, we’re getting our images from nearer the ground than usual, because the theme is; Low elevation.

I took a couple of photos in the garden on Saturday, but then I was lucky enough to capture a stunning sunrise yesterday morning, which kind of outshone them.

Now let’s get the lowdown from the rest of you.
