The Cosmic Photo Challenge: By the water.

Hello there, welcome to another edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, this time themed around the prompt; By the water.

As it happens, I went to a folk festival at a pub next to a canal at the weekend, meaning that technically all my photos are by the water; so I’ve included some which don’t immediately suggest a waterside connection.

Now let’s see what watery offerings you have for us today…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Up, down and sideways.

Hello, good morning and welcome to an Easter bank holiday edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today is looking; Up, down and sideways.

I went for a very pleasant woodland walk on Saturday, through drifts of bluebells which grow at the foot of some impressive rocky outcrops, the tops of which made for good “down” images.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Here’s some cool stuff I found.

Hello there, welcome to a new week and to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today is letting you decide what we see, with the prompt; Here’s some cool stuff I found.

I was up in Sussex at the weekend and while I was walking on Rotherfield’s Millennium Green, I came across these wonderfully contorted tree stumps, which have been stripped of their branches but left standing as living sculptures. I think some of them look like giant mammoth tusks.

Also on the green was this living willow igloo, which must have taken hours of patient weaving to construct.

On a walk through the woods on the edge of the village, I found some very cool old railway tunnels, a “dog log” covered in canine tributes, a den made of dead branches and a tiny door at the foot of a tree

Later on, a few miles away in Tunbridge Wells, I walked past a clever shop display which briefly fooled me into thinking it was a view through their windows, but then I crossed the road and noticed an even more artistic illusion on the upper floor…

What did you see that was worth snapping over the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Fun in the sun.

Hello there, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I hope you’ve all had a lovely break and the weather where you are was suitable for some; Fun in the sun.

I had Melody and Daisy the dog staying over the weekend; we visited a food festival in Bideford on Saturday and went for a stroll through Venn Quarry Woods yesterday, where there was a bit of a canine theme…

Where did you find sunny fun this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: What’s flowering where you are?

Welcome to this Spring-like edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, celebrating a new season with the prompt; What’s flowering where you are?

I went for a walk on Saturday morning and captured some bursts of new colour in the fields and gardens around Rotherfield village.

What are the blooms looking like round your way at the moment..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: First hints of Spring.

Hello there, how are you all on this fine Monday morning? All the better for seeing The Cosmic Photo Challenge is here to welcome you to a new week, I’m sure.

This week’s prompt is a season preview, so to speak; First hints of Spring.

I took a walk through the woods in Whiddon Valley, where I captured some early Spring flowers and the carpet of wild garlic along the riverbanks.

And here’s one from the garden.

What did you see that foretells the upcoming change of season..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: From ground level.

Hello all, how’s your Monday going so far? Well it’s about to get better, because it’s time for The Cosmic Photo Challenge to lift the start of your week; From ground level.

I took a sunny morning stroll along the Tarka Trail at Wrafton yesterday and captured the landscape from a very low elevation for a change.

What did you get up to, getting down at the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Compass points.

Hi there, today on The Cosmic Photo Challenge we’re seeing things from all four; Compass points.

The concept is simple: four photos, each taken from (or towards) one of the cardinal points of the compass, North, South, East and West.

I was visiting friends in Sussex at the weekend, so I took a walk up onto Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie The Pooh, where I captured these four shots…

North
East
South
West

…and this bonus panorama, which nearly covers all four.

How did your all-round mission go this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: From underneath.

Good morning, welcome to another edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, this week featuring pictures based on the prompt; From underneath.

I took a walk down the Tarka Trail from Fremington Quay on Saturday, capturing views from beneath the bridge, electricity poles and various vegetation.

I also used a short video clip I shot of the electrical poles, to make my own small tribute to visionary filmmaker, artist, musician and all round creative genius, David Lynch, who sadly passed away last week.

What made you look up over the weekend..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: The best of the rest.

That’s one more wet and windy weekend down the drain, but here to brighten your Monday is The Cosmic Photo Challenge, hurrah!

This week we’re taking stock of the year and rounding up; The best of the rest.

Now’s your chance to showcase some cool pictures you took this year, which didn’t fit the brief for any of the challenges, but you’d nevertheless like us to see them.

Here’s a collection of shots from days out, weekends away and just being out and about in the countryside over the last few months.

What were your greatest clicks this year..?
