The Cosmic Photo Challenge: As the sun goes down.

Howdy, I hope you all had a pleasant weekend, now let’s get to today’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

It’s been another couple of scorching days here, so it’s just as well we were out taking pictures; As the sun goes down.

I took an evening’s riverside walk in the park on Saturday, when there was a very hazy sunset.

So now it’s time to take a look at your searches for sundown…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Close up.

Hi there, welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is all about the detail, because we’re taking a look at everything; Close up.

I did something you’re only allowed to do if you’re a grown up (or at least look like one), I played with some matches, capturing them in various stages of conflagration. Oh, and a nice shot of a rose.

What did you get up close and personal with this week..?

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: In town.

Hello, it’s a new week and a new edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today focuses on pictures taken; In town.

I went into town on Saturday and thought I’d capture some of the larger old buildings in Barnstaple. The problem is, it’s often difficult to get further away than just across the street, so I decided to use a wide angle for all my shots, adding a bit of extra drama.

How did your urban exploration go? Let’s have a look at what you found…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Up, down and sideways.

Hello, good morning and welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge on this fine Monday, let’s see what you have to fit the prompt; Up, down and sideways.

Three pictures, one taken in each of the relevant directions, simple.

My trio are; looking up at my huge Stargazer lilly in the garden; looking down at a hedgehog I heard wandering past in the dark when I was camping last week; and looking sideways at some wilting flowers, which I noticed looked rather good with the hats hanging behind them.

What did you find to capture over the weekend..?

Good morning, sorry I’m late setting a prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge, coming back from a holiday midweek always makes me forget what day it is.

Anyway, now I’m here, your mission for Monday, should you choose to accept it, is to provide three shots which illustrate the theme; Up, down and sideways.

Have a great weekend, see you again soon.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge: Landscapes.

Hello, it’s Monday again and time to see what you brought to The Cosmic Photo Challenge show and tell session today

The uncomplicated theme this week is; Landscapes.

I’ve been on holiday for the last few days, camping in Wiltshire, where I visited the 19th century engineering marvel that is Caen Hill Locks; a stretch of canal with 29 locks, with a rise of 237 feet over two miles with a 1-in-44 gradient.

The first few photos fall broadly into the “landscape” category, showing as they do views across Salisbury plain in the distance, but I’ve also included some bonus shots of the hugely impressive locks themselves.

The amount of work it must have taken to create this giant waterway staircase really is quite awe-inspiring.

Zoom in up the hill
There’s a cafe at the top of the flight, where you can stop for a well earned rest

Now let’s see your views and vistas…
